Worm gearboxes use a worm and wheel arrangement to deliver high gear ratios and right-angle output in a compact, die-cast aluminium housing.

Transtecno worm gearboxes are supplied by Motordrives Australia across a power range of 0.06 kW to 7.5 kW, with torque capacity from 2 Nm up to 1200 Nm and gear ratios from 5:1 to 100:1. The worm and wheel design gives a compact, right-angle drive package, and at higher ratios the gearbox can hold a load in position without back-driving, reducing or removing the need for a separate holding brake.
