Overview
The Transtecno ECMM series is a permanent magnet DC combination gearmotor range built for low voltage applications that need very high speed reduction in a compact right-angle package. Each ECMM unit combines two worm gear drives with a ferrite permanent magnet DC motor, creating a double-reduction worm gearmotor for low speed, high reduction machinery.
Compared with a single-stage ECM DC worm gearmotor, the ECMM range extends the available overall reduction significantly. Catalogue ratio combinations run from 75:1 to 3600:1 depending on the gearbox combination, motor size and required output speed.
Key Features
The ECMM range is built around 12 or 24 Vdc low voltage DC motors with ferrite permanent magnets. Motor power ratings are available from 100 to 800 W S2, making the range suitable for compact machinery that needs controlled low voltage drive power with a high mechanical reduction.
The gearbox construction uses die-cast aluminium housings across sizes 026, 030, 040, 050, 063, 075, 090 and 110, with cast iron construction on size 130. Gearmotors through size 110 use permanent synthetic oil long-life lubrication, viscosity grade 320, allowing installation across mounting positions under catalogue conditions. Size 130 lubrication depends on mounting position and should be checked during selection.
ECMM configurations also support encoder assembly, output shaft and flange options, torque arm options, and safety or washdown covers depending on the selected configuration.
Common Applications
ECMM DC combination gearmotors are suited to applications where a low voltage DC motor must deliver very low output speed through a compact double worm reduction arrangement. They are useful for battery powered machinery, compact conveyors, positioning systems, material handling equipment, lifting or adjustment mechanisms, and OEM machines where the drive package needs to fit into a tight space.
The double worm reduction format is especially relevant when the required output speed is lower than a single-stage DC worm gearmotor can comfortably provide.
Selection Considerations
Selection should begin with required output speed, torque, supply voltage and duty cycle. The catalogue lists ECMM combinations across multiple CMM gearbox pairings, with ratio ranges from 75:1 to 3600:1. Motor power, service factor, output torque and thermal suitability should be checked against the exact operating conditions before quoting.
The catalogue rates the range for S2 duty, and Transtecno notes that continuous or highly intermittent applications should be checked with technical support. If the application needs holding behaviour, controlled stopping, encoder feedback, a particular shaft layout or a washdown cover, those requirements should be confirmed before final model selection.
For replacement enquiries, clear photos of the existing nameplates, shaft dimensions, mounting position and required output speed will help our team match the correct ECMM configuration.
