Overview
The Transtecno VAM series is a standalone mechanical speed variator designed for applications that need adjustable output speed in a compact industrial drive package. The variator uses a planetary cone-disk operating principle and provides continuous 1:5 speed adjustment.
VAM variators are suited to machinery where speed needs to be tuned during operation, such as conveyors, feeders, dosing systems and packaging equipment. The unit can operate in either direction based on motor rotation, and the standard input motor flange is IEC B5.
Key Features
The VAM range provides precision speed regulation of approximately +/- 0.5 to 1%. Smaller frames, including 018, 037 and 075, are built with aluminium bodies to keep the unit compact and light. Larger sizes use cast iron construction for heavier duty applications.
The speed should be adjusted while the variator is running. The brochure specifically notes that the handwheel should not be adjusted when the motor is off.
Selection Notes
Select the VAM size according to the required power, output torque and output speed range. The catalogue covers power options from 0.18 kW through to 4 kW, with torque values from 1.5 Nm to 64 Nm depending on motor and frame size.
When requesting a quote, include the required minimum and maximum output speed, motor power and supply details, mounting position, and any model code from the existing unit if it is a replacement.
