Overview
The Transtecno BLD range is a family of four-quadrant, regenerative brushless DC motor controllers supplied by Motordrives Australia to drive the Transtecno BL series of brushless DC motors. Each controller in the range uses digital Hall sensor feedback for closed-loop speed or torque control, and is built around a single DC voltage supply with removable terminal connectors for both power and signal wiring.
The range spans four models — BLD07-IT, BLD15, BLD60 Digital and BLDT60 Digital Plus — covering rated currents from 7A through to 60A, so the correct controller can be matched to motors from small fractional units up to higher power brushless drives. Motordrives Australia can help confirm the right model based on your motor’s voltage, current and control requirements.
Model Range
- BLD07-IT: The entry-level 4Q drive, suited to smaller BL series motors. Offers analog 0-10V and PWM speed control, four optoisolated digital inputs, two NPN alarm/frequency outputs and adjustable acceleration ramps via dip switch. An optional CANOpen interface is available.
- BLD15: An evolution of the BLD07-IT in both power and control, supporting torque or speed control with feedback from Hall sensors. Available with optional ModBus RTU RS485 or CANOpen CIA301-CIA402 network control versions, in addition to a dedicated torque-control variant.
- BLD60 Digital: A four-quadrant regenerative drive built around IGBT and MOSFET power components, with a digital LED display for parameter setting and alarm status. Uses PID speed regulation via Hall feedback and communicates over ModBus RS485 RTU, with a speed control range of 150 to 4000 rpm.
- BLDT60 Digital Plus: A fully digital servo-style controller operating in torque, velocity or position mode using Space Vector Modulation (SVM) for higher bus voltage utilisation and reduced heat dissipation compared to traditional PWM. Supports an internal Motion Engine for sequencing, indexing and jogging, dedicated Safe Torque Off (STO) inputs, and network communication via RS232/485 or ModBus RTU.
Key Features
All BLD controllers share a core set of protections and capabilities: bidirectional regenerative operation, single DC voltage supply, protection against over/under voltage, overcurrent and missing Hall signal, Ixt-style motor thermal protection, and removable connectors for fast servicing. Diagnostic LEDs provide at-a-glance status on power, alarm and current-limit conditions across the BLD07-IT, BLD15 and BLD60 Digital models.
Higher models in the range add further capability: the BLD15 introduces dedicated torque-control and fieldbus (ModBus/CANOpen) variants, the BLD60 Digital adds a digital display and RS485 network communication, and the BLDT60 Digital Plus moves to a fully digital, SVM-based architecture with programmable gain settings, configurable current/voltage/velocity/position limits and dedicated Safe Torque Off inputs for safety-rated applications.
Common Applications
- Driving Transtecno BL series brushless DC motors in industrial machinery
- Conveyor, packaging and general automation drive systems
- Torque-mode applications such as screwdriving, unwinding and test-rig duty (BLD15 torque version)
- Network-controlled drive systems using ModBus RTU, CANOpen or EtherCAT
- Position, sequencing, indexing and jogging applications on servo-style BLDC systems (BLDT60 Digital Plus)
Selection Considerations
Selecting the correct BLD controller starts with matching its rated and peak current to the connected BL series motor, then confirming the required control mode — analog speed, PWM, torque, or networked position/velocity control. Applications with frequent direction changes or regenerative braking should confirm the controller’s four-quadrant capability is suited to the load profile, while networked installations should confirm which fieldbus protocol (ModBus RTU, CANOpen or EtherCAT) is supported on the selected model.
For safety-rated applications requiring Safe Torque Off functionality, the BLDT60 Digital Plus is the appropriate model in the range.
