Overview
The MiniTecno BLP range is a series of brushless DC planetary gearmotors supplied by Motordrives Australia, combining a compact all-metal planetary gearbox with a low-voltage BL series brushless DC motor. Built under the “small but strong” MiniTecno brand (part of the Transtecno group), the BLP range is designed for applications needing high torque density from a small, low-voltage drive package.
The range is available in two gearbox frame sizes — PM52 and PM62 — paired with brushless motors rated from 0.22 Nm up to 1.4 Nm, multiplied through one, two or three planetary reduction stages to deliver output torques up to 50 Nm. Construction And Design
Each BLP gearmotor is built entirely from metal components, with permanent grease lubrication that requires no ongoing maintenance — allowing installation in almost any orientation or location within the rated ambient temperature range of 0°C to +40°C (in the absence of freezing or condensation). A double ball bearing arrangement on the output shaft supports both radial and axial loads, with permitted radial loads ranging from 200N (PM52, single stage) up to 520N (PM62, three stage).
The planetary gearbox is also available as a gearbox-only unit, fitted with either a standard input flange (AS series) or a customised flange and coupling, for customers wanting to pair the BLP gearbox with their own motor.
Motor And Gearbox Combinations
The BLP range pairs the PM52 and PM62 planetary gearboxes with the following BL series brushless DC motors:
- PM52 + BLS022.240: 0.22 Nm rated torque motor, 24V/36V, up to 4000 rpm input speed
- PM52 + BLS043.240: 0.43 Nm rated torque motor, 24V/36V, up to 4000 rpm input speed
- PM62 + BL070.240 / BL070.24B: 0.7 Nm rated torque motor, 24V, with optional brake (24B)
- PM62 + BL070.480 / BL070.48B: 0.7 Nm rated torque motor, 48V, with optional brake (48B)
- PM62 + BL140.480: 1.4 Nm rated torque motor, 48V
Gear ratios are available across 1, 2 or 3 reduction stages, with preferred ratios spanning 3.7:1 through to 307.5:1. A 4-stage gearbox is available on request for ratios up to 2076:1, for applications requiring very high reduction in a single compact unit.

Selection Considerations
Selecting the right BLP gearmotor starts with the required output torque and speed for the application, which determines the gearbox frame size (PM52 or PM62), number of reduction stages, and gear ratio. The duty cycle should also be checked against the service factor (sf) values published for each ratio — continuous or highly intermittent duty applications approaching or exceeding sf 1.0 should be confirmed with Motordrives Australia before specifying.
Radial and axial output loads should be checked against the permitted load tables for the selected gearbox size and stage count, particularly where the gearmotor is supporting overhung loads or belt/pulley drives.
For applications requiring closed-loop speed, torque or position control, the BLP motor can be paired with the appropriate Transtecno BLD series controller based on the motor’s current and voltage rating.
