Your Information, And What We Do With It

Motordrives Australia Pty Ltd (ABN 74 133 303 385) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through motordrives.com.au, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it. It is written to align with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This is a static informational website. You cannot buy online, create an account or set a password here, and we never ask for or store payment card details. The only personal information you actively give us is what you type into an enquiry form or send us by email or phone.

Section 01

What Personal Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for us to quote, supply and support industrial power transmission products.

  • Information you give us. When you complete our quote request or contact form, we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, company name, state, the product or application you are enquiring about, and the details of your message.
  • Information you send us directly. Anything you include when you email or phone us, including technical details, drawings, part numbers and site information.
  • Technical and usage information. When you browse the website we automatically receive your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, and the site or search that referred you.

We do not collect payment card or bank details through this website, we do not operate user accounts or passwords, and we do not collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act, such as health, biometric or racial information.

The site search runs entirely inside your own browser. Your search terms are never sent to us or to any third party.

Section 02

How We Collect It

We collect personal information directly from you whenever possible: through our website enquiry forms, by email, by phone, or in person at one of our branches or at a trade event.

We also collect technical and usage information automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you visit the website. That collection is described in Section 04.

In some cases we may receive your details from a third party, such as a manufacturer or distributor who refers an enquiry to us, or a colleague at your organisation who asks us to contact you.

Section 03

Why We Use It

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • respond to your enquiry, prepare a quotation and recommend a suitable product;
  • supply products and provide technical, warranty and after-sales support;
  • manage our relationship with you and keep a record of what we have supplied, which matters when you need a replacement years later;
  • improve the website, our product range and the way we explain our products;
  • send you information about products or services relevant to your enquiry, where you would reasonably expect it and you have not opted out;
  • meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to unrelated third parties for their own marketing.

Section 04

Cookies and Analytics

This website uses Google Tag Manager, which loads Google Analytics 4. These tools set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, and how you arrived at the site. We use this to understand which products and pages are useful and where the site can be improved.

We use this data in aggregate. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it, and we do not combine it with the details you submit through an enquiry form.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the website behave.

Section 05

Advertising

We advertise through Google Ads. Google may use cookies to measure whether an advertisement led to an enquiry, and to show our advertisements to you on other websites in the Google network after you have visited ours.

You can manage or turn this off in your Google Ad Settings. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

We do not use the Meta Pixel or any Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok advertising tracker on this website.

Section 06

Who We Share It With

We disclose personal information only where it is necessary to run our business:

  • Our customer relationship management provider, which stores your enquiry so our team can respond to it and keep a record of the discussion.
  • Google, for the website analytics and advertising described in Sections 04 and 05.
  • Our website and email hosting providers, who process data on our behalf and only under our instructions.
  • Freight and logistics providers, where a delivery address is needed to send you goods.
  • Manufacturers and suppliers, where a technical query, warranty claim or special-order item has to be referred to them.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, where we are required or authorised by law to disclose information.
Section 07

Overseas Disclosure

Some of the providers described above are located outside Australia, or store data on servers outside Australia. In particular, our analytics and advertising provider and our customer relationship management provider are based in the United States, and several of the manufacturers we represent are based in Europe, including Italy.

Where we disclose your personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Section 08

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. The website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and information submitted through our forms is transmitted using a secure POST request rather than being placed in a web address.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information to us by unsecured means.

Section 09

How Long We Keep It

We keep enquiry and customer records for up to seven years from your last interaction with us. Industrial drive equipment has a long service life, and holding this history lets us identify exactly what was supplied when you need a replacement or a spare part years later. It also aligns with our business record-keeping obligations.

When personal information is no longer needed for any purpose for which it may lawfully be used, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or permanently de-identify it.

Section 10

Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading;
  • Ask us to delete it, where we are not required to keep it by law;
  • Opt out of marketing at any time, by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us directly. We may still contact you about a specific enquiry or order.

To make any of these requests, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable period, and ordinarily within 30 days. There is no charge for making a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee for the cost of providing access to a large volume of information.

Section 11

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected] so we can investigate and put it right. We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Section 13

Children

This website sells industrial equipment to businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Section 14

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices, the tools we use, or the law. The current version is always published on this page, and the "Last Updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Where a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
